My Purpose:
I've been blessed with being a "crafter" my entire life and since becoming a small business owner a few years ago, I've been trying to figure what can I do, where can I fit in OR how can I help to make a difference in my community?!?! How can I use my abilities to make something that people will hopefully want to buy and take some of that and give back. Well after about 6 months of praying, searching high and low and trying to come up with the plan, The Shop Small Give Back Collection was created.
With the gift of creating and also being a small business owner, supporting small businesses around me is a personal goal of mine. When my husband and I go anywhere we look for the small boutiques and mom and pop eats places, and we are there. We love the small town feel of the shops and the history that local eateries have, it's just a homey feel as soon as you walk through the door and that's something that you can't get in the big box stores or online.
This collection is to celebrate all small businesses not only this country but also hopefully around the world.
Small Back Story:
After joining the Board of Directors with the Greater Haralson Chamber of Commerce this past January, I was immersed into a group of business owners, community leaders and wonderful people from some of the top businesses within Haralson County that want to help and be a part of growing our business community. I believe with God's grace I am in this role for a bigger purpose, what is that you might ask?
This past April (2024) I volunteered to help with the mock interviews at a local high school to help with the selection of the next year's participants in the Junior Chamber Leadership Program. It was an honor to be there and experience the excitement the kids expressed with joining a program that could possibly impact their life after high school. I found out that morning I could help this great program, and I just needed to figure out how to use my talent to make it happen. With some conversations and ideas, Shop Small Give Back was born.
The shirts are available for $25 each, you get to pick the design/shirt color you would like. The theme of each shirt is Shop Small, Love Local, Support Local, because I feel that it's so very important to support our local businesses not only as a small business owner, but the small businesses try so hard to give back to the communities that support them in all the ways they can. I feel the more that we can together spread the word we can help each and every community around this great nation, one shirt at a time.
25% of each shirt sold will be donated to this wonderful program to help with anything they may need the fundings for.
My Goal This First Year:
I hope to be able to raise enough this fall/spring to fund at least 2 new members with their membership dues for next year.
Down the road I would love to offer a Shop Local/Give Back Scholarship for members to use to maybe open their own small business or even college after they graduate high school.

Are you a business owner and would like to grab one for yourself and maybe your employees too? I have been thinking of a way to incorporate your business name in the design. Not only will the 25% of your purchase be donated to the Junior Chamber, but I will also donate 25% of each shirt you purchase to a charity of your choice. I believe that when small businesses work together, we can make dreams come true.
